Milan to Prague with Skyeurope Airlines

Has anyone had any problems with Skyeurope on this route,,boarding with pre-booked seats,priority check-in,on time departures,etc?

I think there is a thread about Skyeurope cancelling flights, try to search for it.

You might also consider EasyJet - fly from Malpenza to Prague, Skyeurope flies from Bergamo - both about 1 hour away from Milan.

Toronto,

No experience with this particular route.

We did however fly with SkyEurope on their Venice to Prague route and also their Prague-Bratislava route.

No problems with boarding, prebooked seats, priority, check in or on time departures either last year or this.

Their financial picture is bleak however. They have never shown a profit but they are renting and chartering planes to keep their schedule on line and on time.

This is a bad time for many low cost airlines. Be sure to check out the facts before you commit to avoid problems with any carrier. Trip Insurance and paying by credit card are all well and good but the time lost if you need to find a replacement carrier can be expensive as well.

I%26#39;ve just had my outbound and inbound flight cancelled by SkyEurope which is great considering it was for Valentine%26#39;s Day. Wish I%26#39;d booked with someone else now!

|||

That%26#39;s very disappointing for you. In the current economic climate the flight cancellations of low cost carriers are likely to increase. At least you are entitled to get your money back (eventually).

Could you not try CSA or Easyjet?

We recently flew Bratislava - Manchester on SkyEurope, but it involved stopping in Luton on the way to pick up some %26#39;stranded%26#39; passengers (not sure how that was worked out) and they used a chartered 747! I%26#39;m quite glad it was a large plane as there was a load of drunken English blokes on it who were shuffled to the back.

I hope they don%26#39;t go out of business, although it doesn%26#39;t look brilliant, as they are a bit of a lifeline.

I had booked a flight from Prague to Milan which has been cancelled, thankfully i have managed to get another flight with Whizz Air, so my advice would be DO NOT book a flight with Skyeurope..

|||

Your biggest concern should be about the airport itself rather than Sky Europe.

I can`t remember even a single one flight to or from Milan without problems. Lost-damaged luggages , planes leaving earlier (!!!!).....

I`d rather walk than use this airport!

just a note, skyeurope milano flighst are not from milano itself (Malpensa airport) but from Bergamo

Struggling SkyEurope cancels Bratislava, Prague flights

(AFP) – 1 hour ago

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Slovak-based airline SkyEurope on Monday cancelled all afternoon flights from Bratislava and all flights as of Tuesday from Prague, both airports said.

%26quot;All SkyEurope flights left in the morning. The situation became complicated at about 2:00pm,%26quot; Zuzana Hornanova from Bratislava%26#39;s M.R. Stefanik airport marketing department told AFP.

%26quot;The airline cancelled all flights until 00.25 am local time (2230 GMT) due to operational reasons,%26quot; Hornanova said, adding there were about 1,200 Sky Europe clients waiting at the airport.

SkyEurope wasn%26#39;t available for comment on Monday.

The Ruzyne Prague airport said earlier Monday it would halt all SkyEurope%26#39;s flights as of Tuesday after the airline failed to pay its debts, the airport spokeswoman Eva Krejci told AFP.

The Vienna airport halted SkyEurope%26#39;s flights in mid-August for the same reason.

%26quot;SkyEurope has been paying for Bratislava airport%26#39;s service on time,%26quot; according to Hornanova.

The airline, listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, said July it had found an investor who would rescue the struggling low-cost carrier that entered bankruptcy protection a month ago.

The Austrian group FOCUS Equity was supposed to invest 16.5 million euros (23.34 million dollars) in the airline, conditional on a successful restructuring process.

The company launched ticket sales for the winter season in July after adding two new Boeing 737-300 aircraft to its fleet.

The carrier announced earlier this year that its business had been badly hit by the global economic slump and that it had had to reduce its fleet to just five planes from the 15 Boeing 737s it operated in late 2008.

SkyEurope, with bases in Bratislava, Vienna, Prague and the eastern Slovak city of Kosice, never posted a profit in the six years of its existence.
