Wen Sq

Is Wenceslas Sq definately a no-go area at night?

its absolutely off-limits area, no-man%26#39;s land.

... just kidding

of course, the square itself is absolutely safe but i do not know some the streets across (up on the right-hand side), where the red-district is located. Although being a guy, i have never been in them for maybe 10 years.

Are you asking about safety issue? Then it%26#39;s not much of a problem. Otherwise, all depends on your interests.

My daughter and I walked around there late evening/early night(about 10-10.30pm)and we felt perfectly comfortable at the northern (Na prikopke) end, but didn%26#39;t like it so much past Opletalova up to the Narodni Museum end.

Thxs for your replies, it seems we will need to stay near to the northern end then, doubt if we will be out that way after 10.30pm, so hope to be okay..did read some posts re: red light area, so was a bit concerned..

Rosebush, you%26#39;ll be fast asleep by 10.30 after trying all those drinks! :)

KV you could be right.. especially as i will start sampling very early in the day :-)

4hr walk then drink, another walk drink bite to eat, more walking drink, back to hotel, pre dinner drinks, wine to wash down dinner, evening walk with stops along the way to drink and socialise...OMG hope i can find my way back to my bed..lol

it not thats it a no go area its just that it attracts a different crowd searching out the red light area just 2 thirds the way up ie mostly stag partys and such.plus there are a lot of irish bars and english bars up near there to where the stags usually hit for first before taking in the clubs,

but there is usually a strong police presence around this area.they usually have a few cars stationed at the end.

my biggest turn of is the people constantly on the streets trying to get you into these places.have to say that this year i thought it was really overboard and that was in the middle of february good knows whats it like at the peak times.

they can be a bit in your face but depends what group of people you are with,i think if your walking as a couple they dont pay much attention to that, probably knowing you wont be into what they have to offer.just keep the head down and dont give them any excuse to talk to you.dont engage with them at all.

Thxs Philip, hubby and i are of an age that the touts would not bother with..lol

I saw the Sq on a Tv prog, and it looked very nice so will wander along there, but not after dark maybe..

By all means walk there after dark - as philpotno7 says you will not be hassled if you are with your husband. They are only interested in %26#39;enticing%26#39; single males or groups thereof. You will be of zero economic interest to them.

GC for once, it will be good to be of no economic interest..lol

I%26#39;m pleased about this, as the Sq did look lovely, and we both enjoy the hussle %26amp; bustle of a place..

BTW what is Charles Sq like, cannot find much info on it, does it also have cafe-restaurants-bars etc..?
