Brno question...

As part of our tour around The Czech Republic we shall be in Brno for 4 nights 10-13th (inc). We believe there is a wine festival in the area...mmm wine! In the towns of Znojmo %26amp; Mikulov (sp), we were hoping to go on Sat%26#39; 12th.

However looking at the bus timetables they all seem to return very ealy to Brno...? anyone know if there are special buses, or buses that leave these towns later in the evening. At the moment it seems the last bus departs Znojmo at 17.00ish.

Thankyou in advance for all replies.

If you look on www.idos.cz it has all the bus timetables -Saturday is not the best day for public transport, but the situation from Mikulov is better - there are a few options in the evening, both by train and by bus - possibly the 20:02, change at Břeclav.

At that time of year there are plenty of festivals dotted around south Moravia, but they aren%26#39;t usually widely publicised as they are mainly for local consumption, although %26#39;outsiders%26#39; are generally welcomed. If you are lucky enough to run into one they are wonderful and very colourful events (lots of free wine as well!) From 11 to 13 September there will be the %26#39;vinobraní%26#39; (wine harvest) in Mikulov, which will be worth seeing, and possibly worth staying overnight in the town - Hotel Tanzberg is very good, if it has not already been booked up.

http://www.vinobrani.cz/mikulov/index.php - it is all in Czech, but the grizzled old Czech legends Olympic are going to play as well as Kamil Střihavka, of Jesus Christ Superstar fame (he%26#39;s famous for his great rock voice) so it should be fun.

Don%26#39;t miss out on the burčák, which you will see being sold everywhere, in Brno as well, but don%26#39;t drink too much of it :) http://www.radio.cz/en/article/58148
