As previously wrote in my recent trip report to Praha that I used both Visa and ATM card as method of payments. Now that I have been back almost 4 days so I am looking up my statement to see what my banks and Visa company are charging for my debit and withdrawal.
Here is the breakdown:
Visa issued by CIBC AeroGold(used 5 times) charged me .062-.0635 per 1 ckc without any additional fee at least not that I can see from my current web statement but could shows up later in the month so I will update accordingly.
Debit cards:
President Choice Financial(used 3 times) charged me .0625-.0635 per 1 ckc plus 3 additional dollar per withdrawal.
Bank of Montreal(used 2 times) charged me .063-.0645 per 1 ckc without any additional fee
The current whole sale rate for Cad/ckc is around .06-.061. Given this information, I believe using Visa/master card and ATM card in Praha or for any other destinations are the way to go.

Fortunately us brits in the know have a great building society called Nationwide, who charge %26quot;0%26quot; fees and who also exchange at wholesale rates for using their debit visa card from any ATMs, anywhere in the world, just for being a customer.
