Prague in February 2010

Am I mad to be going to Prague in February - is it really that cold?

Thanks

Nah,it will be fine probably much the same temps as Ireland give or take a few degrees.

There are some pics of Prague and other areas of the Czech Republic on My Profile, these were taken in very early March a few years ago.

yes weather will be ok, been before in February, and i am coming back in 2010, so i hope it is ok. Mind you i want to see some snow in the Czech Republic, also the Winter Olympics are on in Canada, hope to see some footage in the Czech bars.

It should not be too crowded. Sometimes february can be quite lovely, though, of course, it can be cold as well but probably not much worse than Ireland during that time of the year. Where in Europe can you find great weather in february anyway?

i went february last year and the weather was cold and some snow,my profile picture is from then, but the snow was only around for a bit and up on the high ground in the city up to the MALNA STRANA.to be honest it only adds to the beauty of the place.i find that the cold is somewhat different to what we get in ireland it is more of a dry cold if you know what i mean.two years ago i was there it was hitting minus 5 at nights but just wrap up with hat and gloves and youll be fine.

Thanks a million for the replies - was worried because i had been reading so many bad reviews regarding the weather. But all booked now for February and can%26#39;t wait - will buy the thermals and will be grand :o)

Thanks again!

Philponto hits it on the nail about being a Dry Cold, unlike the bloody wet miserable winter weather we get in Ireland and Scotland.

we went in December and it was ok. looking forward to January trip, hope it snows aint gotta photo of Prague with snow yet. Packing thermals to be on the safe side.

Last time I had to wear thermals was in January 05 (I think) went down to -21 not had a visit since then that has been that cold and the last few trips to the market in December has been unseasonably mild, but no two years are ever the same.

Have a look here at weather history for previous years.

something between -5 / +5 is quite common for february.

but of course next year could be colder or warmer, we will see.

Certainly in January 2006 it was at least -18 on nights.

Very cold but at the same time added to the charm of being in Prague in winter.
