Train from Prague to Krakow

Hi,

Are there any trains running from Prague to Krakow? At what times and for how much? Thanks for the help!

Yes there are. Times here: www.idos.cz and it takes c. 8 hours.

If you get the day train it costs €19 - book on-line at www.cd.cz (English button towards the top right). The night train costs more because you have to pay for a sleeping berth/couchette, but you can%26#39;t get that one on-line. Buy in Prague on the day, or the day before if you wish.

how much does the couchette cost? will it cost more to book the train in Prague rather than booking it online? I can%26#39;t understand the website in Czech.

Thanks for your help

https:/… you can book the day train here (in English). To be perfectly honest I am not sure how much the couchette would cost, but it shouldn%26#39;t be more than €50 all in. Maybe there is somebody here who has done the trip recently (and who didn%26#39;t buy their ticket from Rail Europe, in which case they paid about 100% too much!)

Hope this helps!

We just did this trip in September.

We did not find the site for ordering on-line, so we bought round-trip tickets in the train station in Prague the day before the trip. We took a day train, stopping in Katowice. The change was not difficult. The signs are not good, but people are friendly and helpful and we chose a connection that left us 30 minutes to figure things out. There are also a few non-stop trains, but the times were not convenient for us.

The EuroCity train (Prague-Katowice and Katowice-Prague) requires a seat reservation. In Prague they were only able to reserve our seats for the trip leaving from there. We had to make the other reservation in Krakow.

The round-trip tickets, including reservations, cost about $100 a piece (2nd class).

The EC train is quite comfortable; the Polish train is older and you have to find a seat, but that part of the journey is relatively short.
