Where to go outside of Prague's tourist area on Monday

Hi,

I am going to Prague to attend a wedding with my family next week and will be in Prague for 5 days. Monday is the only full day that we have and we would like to tour outside of prague%26#39;s main tourist areas since we will be spending 4 days at the Prague city center already.

We were hoping to go to Karlstejn Castle or Konopiste Castle, but just realized that they are both closed on Monday. Does anyone has any other suggestions on where else we could go visit? We need somewhere that is not too far for a day trip and don%26#39;t want to stay at city center anymore. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated! Especially, we are running out of time to plan and still have no idea where else we can go.

Thanks!!!

Both of the places you mention are %26#39;extensions%26#39; of the tourist area :)

You could try Kutna Hora and the Sedlec bone church (tons of information on this forum) - takes an hour by train and is well worth a visit.

Or you could go to Terezin tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g274707-i96-k311…

Hi GCEK,

You are so right...after all I am a tourist =p. I guess I just mean the immediate area of Prague city center. Thanks so much for the advise. I will check out Kutna Hora and Bone Church.

If you like mountain towns, take a bus (just over an hour) to Liberec with www.studentagency.cz. Lovely town, cable car to local mountain called Jested. More germanic than Czech, but lovely. You can have a whole day there. The cable cars operate all the time,I believe.

Or you can visit the town of Pilsen and the Pilsner Urquell breawary. Its about 2 hours by train. Great town and worlds first Pilsener beer.
