Chicago Foodies - Where to Eat?

We%26#39;re interested in small breweries and great food ... love getting out of the city and visiting small towns. Foodie doesn%26#39;t mean all high-end, pricey food ... just the best of the best. Recommendations?

I would absolutely recommend pilsner urquell brewery in pilsn. It’s the brewery of the original pilsner and has a nice restaurant/beer hall to.

For probably the best microbrewery in the country, then Hotel Pegas in Brno …hotelpegas.cz/english-about-alehouse/ they serve excellent food there as well.

From Brno it is possible also to visit the Černá Hora brewery in a small village near the Moravian Karst region www.moravskykras.net/en/moravian-karst.html http://www.pivovarcernahora.eu/ - one of the very few traditional breweries left, still using the %26#39;old%26#39; methods - ditto good food, and at proper prices!

Near Prague there is http://www.kozel.cz/en/homepage.html

Also not so far is http://www.bernard.cz/index.php?lang=en - beats Plzeň in my book (and in many others) anyway.

Česke Budějovice, which has the %26#39;real%26#39; Budweiser - Sampson http://www.budweiser1795.com/index.php?l=2 , and of course Budvar http://budweiser-budvar.cz/en/index.html

There are more, but I%26#39;m sure someone else will fill you in on them...

You%26#39;re right about the best not being pricey - the %26#39;best%26#39; pubs are the smokey, noisy and, most importantly, full ones. Anywhere that looks a bit empty, pass on by!
