Hotel Julian: What kind of neighborhood ??

I%26#39;ve read excellent reviews of Hotel Julian. The price is right and it sounds like a very nice place to stay.

However, I%26#39;ve also read some reviews commenting that the neighborhood is not in good condition... somewhat %26quot;unsavory%26quot; perhaps...and that some people might feel unsafe walking there day or night but especially at night.

Any comments on this?

Thanks.

I think it is a perfectly good neighbourhood, who said that it wasnt?

Not too bad, I think; probably safer than Vaclavske Namesti (Wenceslav Square). Check the history %26amp; helpful details on:

As always, cut %26amp; paste if the link does not work.

This was just one or two comments on some review forums..certainly NOT a concern from the huge majority of enthusiastically positive reviewers.

But that%26#39;s why I like to double check information from a variety of sources.

Thanks for your input.

Sophie, Thanks for the informative link. (BTW..I was in your beautiful town a few weeks ago.)

Prague 5 is a huge area, and whilst Julian is technically in Prague 5, it is about 300 metres from Petrin funicular hence the Lesser Town area of Prague 1.

There is nowhere really unsafe in Prague including Wenceslas Square.

PS - I just remembered your posting about Henrici? Have you changed your mind and staying at Julian?

Hi, KVKFAN...

Thanks for the details about Prague 5.

I haven%26#39;t made up my mind about which hotel to choose for my 5 night stay. I%26#39;ve narrowed it down to a short list of 4 spanning several price ranges and styles of accommodation: Golden Well, Julian, Maximilian, and Domus Henrici.

Over the weekend I will present the list to my husband with all the prices and pros %26amp; cons of each. And then I hope we will arrive at a decision.

Golden Well at Hradcany is supposed to be very good. There is so much choice, looks like an interesting weekend for you (or not):)

Maximilian is in a great location on a quiet street.

Thanks, TORII...I%26#39;ll put that in my notes.
