it is slighter longer by train but it is only a few minutes walk from the train ststion to the Brewery(beer factory??????).

I will post specific instuctions on how to get there later when I get home, too busy at work just now.

You can take a bus from Zlicin which is the end of line B, and it takes about 1 hour from there, but will take you half an hour on metro to get there from the centre.

The time journey of buses from Florenc or trains from the central station does not differ much, one and a half hours to one and three quarters. The train cost 145KC one way, not sure how much buses cost but unlikely to be significantly cheaper. Check prices on Studentagency website.

maybe unclegus can offer advice as to where the bus and train station in Plzen is, in relation to the brewery.

We took the train and it was okay. Actually, you can see the brewery from the train station, just a short walk. The beer there is outrageously delicious!

Na ZdravĂ!!

the train actually passes along side the brewery and you can take some good photos from the train of the brewery complex. It is about a 5-7 minute walk from the train station into the brewery complex.not sure where the bus stops but the Town centre is a good 15-20 minute walk from the brewery.

You are all fab ;o) thank you so much.

Was thinking bout taking the yellow student bus, but after reading all this info i believe that the train would be a much nicer journey.

Just a matter of finding the times now...sure we could find that out at the station.

Thank you unclegus, have spotted your directions after searching other posts. x

Such a pity that a bloke like myself has to drag the Mrs. all the way to Europe to partake in such tremendous beer. Granted that the smaller micro-breweries over here turn out some pretty good beers but the huge factory brewers produce nothing but swill. We can purchase the imports at our local store but the bottled versions don%26#39;t always arrive here in good condition.

Luckily we can make the trip 3 or 4 times each year to recharge our batteries. Looking forward to November for our next visit!

long way to go for a pint :)

there are updated instructions i don%26#39;t know if you got them.

i last visited in may this year and since my previous visit they have built a hotel just before the footbridge that takes you to the Brewery entrance.just head towards the hotel (Abgello i think) and follow the walkway around the left hand side of the hotel this will take you right on to the bridge and you willsee the brewery entrance right in front of you.

KVKFAN,no it is not too far to travel for such a wonderful beer 20,000 miles would not be too far,I have visited the brewery 4 times and will be going back again next year.

Snydley (and others) may be interested in a book called Beer Hunter,Whisky Chaser edited by Ian Buxton. It is a series of essays, articles and short stories in memerory of the Beer and Whisky writer Michael Jackson.there are a couple of articles on the American craft beer revoloution that Micheal Jackson was fundemental in establishing, also a great article on European beers and big mentions of the revoloution in beer making that Josef Groll started all these years ago in Plzen.

don%26#39;t know how widely available it is but it is a bloody good read and all profits from sales go to the Parkinson Disease Society.
