Hiya!
We are a couple from India (in our late 20%26#39;s) and plan to vacation in Prague in the first week of December%26#39;09.
I like to research my hotels well in advance and find that two hotels are offering a good deal to us:-
a. Santini Residence (about 480 euros for 4 nights)
b. Imperial Hotel (about 460 euros for four nights)
Both these packages include breakfast and the local VAT @ 9%.
I request for advise on which is a better property/ hotel vis-a-vis value for money and the quality.
Looking forward to get some responses.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Cheers..
Ash

These two hotels are great hotel, but a little far outside centre, if you go from the 7th of December and four nights you will find that Hotel U Prince takes about 380e for four nights, and this hotel is on the wenclas square, in the centre of staro mesto(old town square). I would recommend this hotel instead.
You can book trough the hotel web site
http://www.hoteluprince.com/reservation or
www.hrs.com
At hrs.com you also can adjust your criteria to four and five stars hotels and distance from centre.
And at hrs.com you don’t have to pay for the hotel at forehand, you pay by arrival.
The price you have listed I think is a bit expensive considering the distance from centre Prague.

I stayed in Santini this summer for 2 nights. I`ve found it to be an excellent value for money option. But keep in mind that you`ll pay in crowns so it won`t be 480E but little more. That`s the only thing i didn`t like.
I don`t have an opinion about Imperial. the location is not bad but Santini`s is better unless you are looking for a lot of nightlife. then better go with imperial
I have to disagree with happypraha about the distance. Both are very close to the center but far from the noise at the same time. U Prince is nice , with good reviews , in the heart of Prague but keep in mind it`s a meeting point for every tourist in prague so expect some noise

I can partly agree, but I stayed at U prince last year and inside the hotel I never found noise a problem. All I am stating is that for a short trip like that, it is nice to have the hart of everything as a starting point.
When I said far I meant that it’s a little walk to get to the main centre, but not more than ok.
But I don’t think it’s worth 100e extra.
As I stated earlier, check out hrs.com
Its one of the best booking sites for quality hotels and they have a best price guarantee

I think both hotels are in a good location, Santini Residence is in Mala Strana, a more picturesque location than Imperial, very close to Charles Bridge and the castle. Maybe 20 minutes walk to the Old Town Square.
The Imperial is near Namesti Republiky, shopping area, Municipal House, Powder Tower, and on the start of the Royal Route. About 10 minutes walk to the Old Town Square.
Both have good public transport links. I think you can%26#39;t go wrong with either.
The Old Town Square is a busy tourist area and at that time of the year will be full of Christmas Market stalls so noisy and busy all day long. Might be nice to escape to something more peaceful in the evening.
Remember that Prague centre is small all within walking distance so don%26#39;t worry about location of either of your hotels.

I would go with The Imperial, the architecture is lovely,as for someone recommending the U Prince there have been people on here reporting about the lack of security in the hotel due to the fact that people walk in and out all of the time to use the bar and restaurant and the %26quot;facilities%26quot; and have to use the lifts and walk past the bedrooms to get to the roof terrace..just something to be aware of.

Thanks for your answer!

Wow!
That%26#39;s a lot of valuable response and feedback.
I have noted the suggestions and the comments very carefully also checked the website link and the hotel U prince.
However, very funny- but I kind of like the imperial / santini and not U prince for its right in the center location.
We guys are going there for our first wedding anniversary and would like to have an element of romance with the hotel and it%26#39;s location rather than being a hard core tourist center.
at the same time, i would like a hotel with in walking distance of the action (we have been married for a year now and would want more than just the two of us..)
so what would be the recommendation?
|||
As I said above, both of your choices are within easy walking distance of all major tourist locations, Santini perhaps in a more romantic location.
http://www.mapy.cz/ - the top line %26#39;Hledej%26#39; - enter locations of Imperial (Na Porici Praha), Santini (Nerudova Praha) - the Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti Praha) you might get a better idea of where places are.

How about the Savic hotel?
