rough idea of beer prices

will be in prague for a few days soon..i,ve tried everywhere for beer prices...so anyone who has been recently could you help me out...also where do avoid getting stroked by over charging.

You can get beer for as low as 16 Crowns per half litre, or as much as 200, so there is no real answer to this.

In general you will be paying a lot more in the centre than in the suburbs (where the locals go) - the beer is on average better in the suburbs as well as locals will not put up with the badly-poured expensive beer that you get in the centre (not everywhere, of course, but in general).

How to avoid over-charging? Stay away from obviously tourist-oriented places (particularly %26#39;Irish%26#39; bars - they are some of the biggest culprits!) and go somewhere that looks like locals are having a good time.

I would say if you are charged more than 35 Crowns for a beer you are being ripped off. Personally I wouldn%26#39;t spend more than about 25.

gawa1970 - best place to look is type beer prices in the search box then go from there.

As a rough guess, anything between 22-28 (ish) is what you%26#39;ll pay off the tourist track, down Wenceslas Square and the like it%26#39;ll be 35+. If it looks modern then it%26#39;ll be modern day prices. From experience, get down the small alleys and side roads and you%26#39;ll find great beer with great prices. The beer halls are also a good starting point.

On my Trip in May the cheapest I paid was 21czk and the most expensive was 60czk In an Irish bar (I was there to watch a football match).

out of the city I was paying about 20czk .

i spent most of my time at the Beer Festival where a 500ml beer was 40czk.

The Airport has the most expensive beer I have seen at 145czk.

thanks for the advice....no doubt i,ll get ripped off somewhere but i will try and stick to all the advice...cheers

I would go up to 40CZK in the centre for a price limit of a mass produced beer. I wouldn%26#39;t pay any more than that (I wouldn%26#39;t pay even that, but then, I live here).

You might be asked more for a craft brew, that%26#39;s another thing and, for example, at U Medvídku 48CZK for a pint of OldGott or 1466 is still good value.

It is different also if you go to a proper restaurant. You%26#39;ll pay more there for your beer.

To avoid getting ripped off, stay away of places that have big signs in English written outside and you%26#39;ll be safer.

Na Zdraví!
