My husband and I are going to be in Prague mid September and are researching restaurants for dinner. We have 3 nights for dinner and would like something mid range and would love some recommendations.
We were thinking having authentic Czech cuisine one night and then thought of Brasserie M, Celeste Restaurant, Budda Bar and/or Arzenal(could do this one for lunch one day). Also, can you tell us whether Allegro is overrated? I am sure it is not going to fit my budget, but ya never know.
Lunch suggestions would be great as well.
We are staying at Hotel Josef and are planning on having breakfast at the hotel.
Your help is appreciated.

I wouldn%26#39;t call most of those restaurants mid level. At least not for price standards in Prague.
Anyway, if you want to see some of them reviewed you can check out this page http://praguespoon.blogspot.com

Pivero - thanks for the link. Would you consider the restaurants that I listed more high end and touristy?
|||
They are at the high end side.
But in any case i think buddha bar there are better options for czech cuise. Not that they are not good restaurants (ok buddha bar is not that good) but i wouldn`t go there for a czech experience

Of those you list I%26#39;ve only been to Celeste, and I liked it a lot. It%26#39;s not touristy, it%26#39;s high end. For what I%26#39;ve heard, Brasserie M isn%26#39;t what it used to be, so I might cross it out and Buddha Bar is a gimmick only, again, based on reviews and comments of people that have been there.
I can%26#39;t remember hearing anything about Arzenal recently. And as for Allegro, well, it%26#39;s the only place in Prague with a Michelin Star, so you%26#39;ll be paying that premium.
I would suggest Zahrada v Opeře, next to the National Opera House, in the back of the building formerly used by Radio Free Europe. It%26#39;s one of the best value for money upper mid-level restaurants in Prague. It%26#39;s been reviewed at the blog I recommended you
For some traditional Czech food, I would choose U Petrské Věže (www.upetrskeveze.cz). A fine dining restaurant specialised in traditional Czech food.

abfab - I tried buddha bar in NY and it was less than appealing a well, so not sure why I would want to go there in a foreign country :).

Pivero - thanks so much for your candid review.

Hi - so far I have reservations at Aromi Restaurant and Celeste and looking for a third that is for a sunday night and I can%26#39;t seem to find a restaurant to my liking that is open. I tried Shiso and it said that they are closed and also La Degustation is closed which is a real disappointment to us. We were really excited to try that.
Any other recommendations?

Sorry to hijack your thread beans :-)
We are making our first visit to Prague mid Sept, and wonder if any restaurants have English versions of their menu%26#39;s..?
|||
All restaurant in the centre have surely their menu translated in foreign languages. At least those restaurants that want tourist to spend their money there. The quality of the translation differ.
About weird items on the menu GCEK%26#39;s post (nr. 2) tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g274707-i96-k20222…
And it was also discussed here tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g274707-i96-k27137…
Some other links considering Czech food and dining etc. are in this thread tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g274707-i96-k29405…
Try to see some websites of restaurants - they%26#39;ve often an English version.
You look stressed - relax and look forward to your holidays in Czech republic ;)
You wouldn%26#39;t be there alone - in the tourist centre there are more tourists than Czech citizens so many people will speak English to you.
|||
As you can see my English isn%26#39;t very good. There should be %26quot;translated into%26quot; and %26quot;The quality ... differs.%26quot; You can find mistakes like these in ?on ?at the menus.
