hi just wondering whether to change some money up before we go or wait till we get there?

Wait until you get there, and use the cashpoint.

Hi
It does rather depend on which bank you are with and what their charges are for using a cashpoint.
Open a flex-account with the Nationwide and you will get the best rate available and no charges for using a cashpoint abroad. Use one of the big four banks and you will be robbed blind.

I love my Nationwide debit card :0)

I don%26#39;t pay any commission with my Lloyds account, but it depends which one you have.
Whatever, you will be robbed even more blind at exchange offices - possibly more so in the UK, and most of all at the airport.

Hi
Lloydstsb don%26#39;t charge commission, well let me see.
Change £1 at Lloyds and you will get 24.153 CZK
Do the same with your Nationwide Flexaccount and you will receive 27.83 czk
The difference being 3.657 CZK
A commission by any other name, it%26#39;s still daylight robbery.

if you want to change some money in prague
before check last rate on kurzy.cz
then i suggest you the best place is in jungmannova
a small place owned by a syrian guy, he%26#39;ll give you the best rate in town

Lloyds Bank usually charges £2 per transaction of any value when you are using foreign cash points.(unless you have a special account) As far as exchange rate is concerned it is in line with other banks. Don%26#39;t think that Nationwide do the job for free, it is not a charity and they have to make money somehow.

Hi
I am afraid you are wrong about that, Nationwide give you the full interbank rate when you use a cashpoint with no charges when you are travelling within Europe. They make their money from investing your deposits not from your taking it out.
I don%26#39;t know what happens when you change money in a branch, but most definitely you will always get a far far better rate with your Visa Debit card.
Check out any travel money advice site, even when you are outside Europe their charge is infinitely less than any of the others.

thanks for that..im with hsbc so il c when i get there..but will prob use cashpoints.....

Just checked my Nationwide acc and got 28.6 cr/£ last
Tuesday at Bristol airport, on the same day travelex
were giving 23.1cr/£,thats 19% less or £95 for every
£500 spent.
Nationwide Flex is by far the best account you will find for currency conversion make sure its the flex debit card you apply for.
It saves me at least £1000 a year, even against banks like lloyds who promote no commission but sting you on with a bad exchange rate.
