My wife and I are going to be in Prague this July. We want to reserve an overnight sleeper train to Krakow, Poland during the middle of the week. RailEurope just sent an email saying that it would be 349 euro for two. Does this price seem right or could we get it cheaper buying it in Prague. We will only be in Prague for two nights and three full days so we have limited time to prebuy tickets if the train is full. Thanks for any advice.

Leave raileurope well alone - they are an absolute rip-off and charge ridiculous prices. Tickets for this train are not available on-line, but you can buy it on the day, or if you want to be absolutely sure a couple of days before in Prague at the main station, with no problem. IMO There is also no need to go first class as the standard is very similar in second but a lot cheaper. They all arrive at the same time :)
If you get the day train (which IS available on-line) it costs €19 each. I reckon it should cost you about €60 each for a perfectly good sleeper compartment which looks like this www.vagonweb.cz/fotogalerie/CZ/CD_WLABmz.php
1st class shouldn%26#39;t cost more than €100 each but honestly, save your money!

Excellent, thank you for the information. I think we will wait to buy all our train tickets once we get there. Again, thanks.

If you want a sleeper book it at the first possible moment as they are limited and sell out. They may be a little more at raileurope but surely beat a seat in a crowded compartment with no space for luggage.

You call €200 on top of the real price a little more? :)
The places on this sleeper in theory can sell out, but it would have to be exceptional - in addition to the sleeper car there is a couchette car, two 2nd class carriages and one 1st class carriage and so there is more than enough for all passengers. Did you have a particular experience with the sleeping berths being %26#39;sold out%26#39; on the night train?
And as for luggage storage, if you are unlucky enough not to get either a sleeper or couchette place (I can%26#39;t imagine such a scenario), the seating carriages are even less likely to be crowded and there is plenty of luggage storage space in the overhead racks. Just get to the station about 20 minutes before departure and you will find that the train is empty so you can choose a seat (and luggage storage space) at your leisure.
It is a different matter for the day train, though - tickets cost from €19 here https:/… and these can and should be bought in advance in order to get the best price.
As the night train tickets are not available on-line, the vast majority of potential travellers will book this a couple of

If you really want to get a ticket beforehand and do not want to pay Raileurope prices, contact www.polrail.com who only charge a small commission and can send you the tickets by post.

Sorry, I missed a bit off there: %26#39;As the night train tickets are not available on-line, the vast majority of potential travellers will book this a couple of days in advance%26#39;
