Brno-Prague Airport: train versus bus - recent experience?

Could anyone who%26#39;s travelled to catch a specific plane at Prague airport from Brno by the Yellow Student bus tell me how reliable and punctual they found the service?

I am being torn by 2 totally opposing pieces of advice - train unreliable %26amp; poor value for money (%26amp; more to the point NOT door to door to the airport) versus buses - cheap but on a Friday the traffic can be a nightmare so leave ridiculously early %26amp; risk 4 hours stuck at the airport or missing your plane!

HELP, HILFE, AU SECOURS!!!

I shall be on my own %26amp; would appreciate first hand recent experience.

The Student Agency Bus is not door to door either. You must take a bus from the airport to their station at the Florenc station in Prague. There you get the bus to Brno. On return you go to Florenc and change for the airport.

I ordered my tickets online to go from the airport which only gave me prepaid reserved tickets for both parts but not a direct trip. Their busses were cheap, comforable, with bathrooms, movies, Czech newspapers, free hot drinks and cheap cold drinks and snacks. The free Wifi didnt work on the way back.

Should you want to change the time of the bus as a result of your plane arriving earlier than planned you must pay 10 kr per person. The woman at the airport changed our tickets to 1130 for 10 kr but when we arrived in Florenc there was a 1030 bus just about to leave. We were charged another 10 Kr to get on that one. Not a lot of money but a little annoying.

The busses seemed to keep exactly to schedule.

|||

Many thanks for that!!

Student Agy buses are great; usually on time %26amp; relatively fast....

If you like trains, like to move about, talk to different people, trains are more interesting.

I use both; somehow the scenery is better on trains..

Also, trains stop... you see some interesting Railway Stations.. (People watching is also great)

We%26#39;re on the same wavelength Sophie :)

|||

Are you sure the SA coach doesent go to the airport after Florenc?

The timetable states so on most trips.

Yes it does

Oh Lord - I%26#39;ve left it too late - the bus i want is full!! Now i have to decide: an hour earlier [%26amp; risk arriving 4hrs before take off - only 1 seat left] or an hour later - which is only any good if it%26#39;s dead on time - a horrible risk on a Firday? Or give up %26amp; just take the train.......lugging my stupid luggage about. Ahhhh!!!!

|||

Why so much luggage? Take the earlier bus then; keep on checking...They only charge a small fee for changing the tkt...

|||

Be careful - I just double checked %26amp; in going %26#39;back %26amp; forth%26#39; I%26#39;d neutralised the date back to this week - however there still was only 1 bookable seat left on the bus I want @end of 1st week of Nov - so I GRABBED it!! Quite painless so far. So now I%26#39;ll be the researcher - I shall travel by train frm Prague to Brno thus will move around %26amp; look at people :) etc, %26amp; four days later %26amp; on a Friday (road jams like here?) I%26#39;ll take the bus %26amp; not have to lug my cases around. It%26#39;ll be a hell of a day: Brno - Prague; Prague Heathrow; Heathrow KingsCross; KingsCross- York in 12 (well with clock adjustment 13) hours - wish me luck!!
