Has anyone taken the train from Prague to Krakow.
In mid December I have to get from Prague to Krakow in the afternoon - there is a direct train.
What is the difference between First and Second class seats?
Is the train reliable?
Thanks

The timetables are not out for trains after the 12th December, and I have heard rumours that this train will no longer be running with the new timetable changes, but it is definitely running up to and including the 12th December.
Difference between 1st and 2nd class? Not a lot in comfort, but a huge amount on money - second class costs €19 here https:/… and first class is about €60. It is really not worth the extra outlay.
In fact if anything the second class is more comfortable on that train - certainly more legroom.

Very few people pay the extra.

Thank you

Interestingly the Polish Railway online timetable also finishes Dec. 12. So you just have to keep on checking when the new one comes up.

there is nothing interesting about that - the whole Europe, except trains like Eurostar or Thalys, change their timetable on exactly the same date, every year.

And be sure that train is definately NOT running any more after that. No doubt, the Polish railways do not want to bother with it (so exactly, it will be running, but terminating at the border station). ;-) There will, however, still be the night train, which is probably even a better option - that 8 hours sleeping, as you%26#39;d anyway.

Hi Sir Humphrey - where can i book the overnight train from?

Hi Sir Humphrey - do you know what website to book the overnight train from?
|||
until sir h comes back :) I don%26#39;t think you can buy an overnight train on Czech railways eshop, you can only buy a day train. So you would have to buy the ticket when you are in Prague. I hope this is correct.

Yes - you buy it at the station, and you can buy it on the day at the international ticket office. It is not available on-line. You have a choice of 1st/2nd class seating, a couchette car and a sleeping car (the latter being the most expensive - for a two-berth sleeper it should cost about €90ish, but I%26#39;m not sure) http://razeni.idos.cz/raz.aspx?cmd=cmdSearch%26amp;s=Praha+hl.n.%26amp;t=201%26amp;date=20.10.2009%26amp;idos=true

Thanks - there wont be any problem with the train selling out of 2 berth sleeper? In Australia train travel has to be booked months in advance to ensure you get a seat on the day you want to tavel.
