Cost of food and drink

going to prague late november, but confused at the prices. had got the impression it was cheap, and there are posts on here saying 150 was enough for 3 days. I deal in euro, but when im looking at the prices on menus recommending its 28 euro for a steak if i work out 25 czk to the euro.

Is prague more expensive than dublin?

150e for one person for 3 days ?

Although it all comes down to what you want to do i`d say it`s possible.

The 28e steak is not as uncommon as it used but it`s still easy to find places with good food in normal prices , that is 25-30e per person. You can find even cheaper too but you`ll have to move further out

You may find this info usefull to compare to Dublin.

I would say that the link Torrii has given you is a pretty fair indication of prices.

I was last in Prague in May this year and ate it many Hospodas,ie bars that serve food.no problem getting a decent meal for under 10euros and a bit more if we wanted to splash out.

this is one of my favourite places to eat and certainly 10 euros would get you 2 courses of cheaper food and one course of more expensive fare.

Beer prices are still very cheap compared to Dublin and the saying is if it cost more that 40czk for a beer don%26#39;t go in.

On my last trip cheapest beer was just over 20czk and the dearest 60 czk in funnily enough an Irish Bar.

Prague is not the cheap place it was many years ago but is still not bad especially for beer drinkers.

I was in Dublin this summer and I can assure you that it is not more expensive, but it all depends on where you go - it can be as cheap or as expensive as you like. One rule of thumb - something that Unclegus alludes to - anything that says %26#39;Irish%26#39; in its name, or purports to be an %26#39;Irish pub%26#39;, or anywhere that accepts euros as payment should be avoided like the plague if you value the contents of your wallet!

€ 28 for a steak? Where on earth have you been looking? Personally I wouldn%26#39;t pay more than seven.

thanks i was looking at links to some of the restuarants recommended on the site, recently

Hi ggDublin

Dont worry Prague is nowwhere near as expensive as Dublin (is anywhere??).

Best advice is as with all cities / places, avoid the main tourist areas and go down the side streets / off the beaten track and find the places the locals eat. You will always get the best food and prices there.

As GCEK said, it also depends where you go, there will always be the expensive restaurants as well as the more reasonable ones.

Enjoy Prague, its a great city.

I also tend to avoid places that have been recommended, wherever they are, as a recommendation is usually the beginning of the slippery slope downhill (I call it %26#39;death by recommendation%26#39;) :) There are some exceptions, of course, but just sniff out the decent places for yourself - they will be the ones off the beaten track that don%26#39;t make a big show of trying to entice you in, which is usually a sign of desperation and therefore mediocrity (also sometimes high prices).

Am I reading this menu correctly is the duck for 2 over 50 euros and the wine at the top of the rose list 50 euro or an u bit getting the currency?
