Where should we stay in Prague!? renting an apartment///

I am going for a week; renting an apartment but need to know what the %26quot;hot areas%26quot; are in prague...I need to be close to the restaurants, the upscale nightlife, etc etc.... so is that OLD town? new town? where??? the condos will say where they are but where do i WANT to stay?

I would suggest Praha 1; generally speaking Old Town... but check several current forums; many links..

Prague is quite compact with excellent metro system - nothing would be that far...
