Walking at night

We will be in Prague next week and as New Yorkers we like to walk. How safe is it at night going to dinner? We are staying at the Cerna Liska hotel, and want to walk to restaurants like Mlejnice, Le Colonial Cafe etc. Thanks for your reply in advance.

Perfectly safe probably safer than New York!

Thank you, NY is one of the safest cities in the US. Last year in Sevilla in broad daylight I had my bag taken off my shoulder. Living in NYC all my life I was never the victim of any crime. I travel the subways late at night but I know my city, where to go and where not to go.

You will be fine, just take all the precautions that you would in any city,Its not like you are going to be out into the small hours and there are always lots of people about. Your hotel is right in the centre in a safe well lit area surrounded by restaurants.

I%26#39;ve visited Prague since 1970 and never had a problem --- walking all over town at all hours of the day and night --- and late night/early morning.

As stated above, take the usual precautions, as you would in any large city.

However, I must say, it was safer under socialism. That period did have its advantages.

Prague at night feels scary and even cripy (sorry about the spelling) but it is not. The quite narrow streets and the architecture produce this kind of feelings but honestly it`s much safer than it seems

I think the word you were looking for Abfab was creepy but I would have to dissagree and say it is atmospheric :0)

and even romantic :)

I fully agree with the previous two. I hesitated to respond to the %26quot;creepy%26quot; post, but it is anything but that. And in the winter with some snow, the gas lamps make it a wonderland. But that%26#39;s for your next visit.

I was in Prague in August with my husband and daughter, but my husband had some problems with his feet, so often in the evenings my daughter and I went out by ourselves. We did not feel at all unsafe (but we did not stay out later than about 11.30pm, I don%26#39;t know how it would be later)
