Uniworld Prague Extension Question

Has anyone been on the Uniworld Cruise Prague extension?

If so, could you please tell me what tours in Prague were included?

About how much free time did you have. We are looking at doing some tours on our own to places where the company tours do not take you.

What hotel in Prague did they use?

How did they get you from Passau to Prague? By Bus? By Train?

Any other comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

can help only with one question - Passau to Prague would be by bus! To do this by train would be very complicated.

|||

Do you know how long the trip takes?

Thanks for your help.

It is not very far only about 200 kilometres, but the roads are secondary (no motorway) but nice and scenic route for most of the way. I would guess by bus about 3.5 to 4 hours.

Ok then it sounds like I%26#39;ll need my handy motion sickness pills.

|||

Probably you should check how much the extension costs; Often hiring a private van + booking hotels on your own is a cheaper alternative...check previous forums...

You definitely would need your motion sickness pills! The driving on that stretch of road can be a bit white-knuckle :) It goes through forests and villages, which the bus driver will (should) have done hundreds of times, but for the uninitiated it can be a bit disconcerting. I once took some American cousins around that part of the world by car and they were quivering wrecks by the time we got back (and I was driving slowly!) ...

But it is certainly spectacular.

I bet you are now getting scared :), but there is no need, the road is no longer that winding, some bends have been straighten out, villages bypassed. It%26#39;s just a pretty route. In the past even the main drag to Germany via Weidhous was awful, but now a breeze. The fairly untouched winding crossing is the one at Zelezna Ruda, but you won%26#39;t be going that way.

So take your tablets and enjoy it.

Ok now I%26#39;m adding some valium to my suitcase!

Just kidding. I%26#39;ve driven the Amalfi coast and it doesn%26#39;t get more winding around sharp drop offs then that.

I will take my motion sickness pills though...Just in case!

No - it%26#39;s nothing like that :) The most disconcerting bit is the fact that drivers will try to overtake at any possible opportunity, rather than the windiness of the road. It isn%26#39;t as bad as Poland, though - your intake of Valium might become dangerous if you did a similar journey there, especially in the winter ...
