I don%26#39;t drive so if i visit prague, do i have to join a tour to visit the landmarks?
I%26#39;m thinking of going in Feb, is this a good time?

English is spoken in Prague in ever increasing numbers, make an effort to learn a few words of Czech It takes little effort to learn a few simple phrases such as ‘please’, ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ and your experience in Prague will be greatly enriched by doing so as the locals will be very pleased (or amused) by your polite efforts.
Some basics:
Please/You%26#39;re welcome: Prosim (PROH-seem)
Thank you: Dekuji Vahm (Dyeh-koo-yih vahm)
Hello: Dobry den (DO-bree-den)
Goodbye: Nashledanou (NAH-sleh-dah-noh-oo)
Yes: Ano (AH-no)
No: Ne (neh)
And now for an essential phrase you cannot do without in Prague:
Dam si jedno pivo prosim: Can I have a beer please!
As for not driving all the famous landmarks of Prague are all accessible on foot ,to go further afield joining a tour would be a good idea but there is a very good public transport system that other posters will be able to advise you on.
Going in February will be fine everything will be open but there will be less crowds ,I always go In January ,remember to wrap up warm in layers as inside buildings can get very warm.

Sophie you have mentioned Yekav on this post and one of Uncle Gus`s,
Can you tell us who you are talking about please?

To TORII
He wrote a message (now removed) about stupid Q.s people in general, (but especially Americans) have which opened about 56 forums...
My answer to him was that the only q. that is stupid is the one you did not ask... But others were not as kind, especially as he was from Russia and his last message was that he was moving to Prague. I guess most people who either contribute to Cz forums or are Czech%26#39; must have responded quite sharply...I might actually know him, his name (transcribed -syllables exchanged) gives me that idea, but I am not sure... Perhaps GCEK could let us know....

Thank you for your answer Sophie I see now who you were refering to but do not see how Gcek would Know..
Tell me were you once a resident of Prague yourself? You seem to have a vast knowledge that I do not think could come from just visiting?

Lived in CZ, UK,France %26amp; Canada;worked as a Travel Agt in London; International Marketing elsewhere. Actually, I know other towns better. in CZ or elsewhere. Right now I am asking stupid q.s about New Mexico (Short Vacation soon) %26amp; Australia %26amp; Fiji (Next March)... I think GCEK knows a lot more about other countries than I..
|||
No, I don%26#39;t think so ... :)

I think you have a fan Gcek!
