we (3) are hoping to take the train from Prague to Salzburg on Christmas Eve.
Can we just buy the ticket at the station there or should we pre purchase it on one of the web sites.
Any suggestions/ recommendations greatly appreciated.

The only direct train which departs Prague for Salzburg leaves Prague at 7.14. You can buy this ticket for 19 euros from the Czech Railways website eshop 60 days in advance of travel. Tickets on any other trains don%26#39;t have a special price so might just as well buy it on the day.
However, should you search for departure on 24th december, you will not find any information because each year the timetable changes on about 13th December and will be implemented a couple weeks before this date.
The German railways website gets usually update much earlier than the Czech one, so you could look for any connections there

There should be no longer any direct daily train from Prague to Salzburg, one will have to change in Linz. The afternoon train (arriving about midnight) should remain, but I%26#39;m really not sure if it will go even on Dec 24th/25th. Be careful about that date while travelling all over Europe.

Yes, there may not be a direct train after 12st December, need to wait for the new timetable

NB %26#39;Christmas Eve%26#39; as we know it, i.e. 24th December, is the equivalent of our %26#39;Christmas Day%26#39; in much of Central Europe.

Many thanks for your help...I%26#39;ll keep a watch on the German rail site but might now also look at flying.

Flying isn%26#39;t an option, unless you hire a private jet :)

looking at the prices, maybe it was a private jet!! Think I%26#39;ll wait for the new timetable for after 12Dec and stick with the train.
