Staying at Andel Apartments in November. Any tips on good beer and good food in this area? It seems just off the beaten track as far as the guide books go - which could be a good thing of course!
Thanks in advance

I had a very nice meal last April in a restaurant called: Potrefena Husa.

The hotel is approximately 12 km from Prague`s Ruzyně International Airport. From the airport, take the bus number 100 to the underground stop “Zlicin”. From there take the yellow underground line B to the stop called “Andel”. Andel is the nearest underground stop to the office and the apartments
Use google for other restaurants.

Potrefena Husa is a great option right at Andel Metro. It%26#39;s part of a Staropramen chain, so not the best beer in my opinion. Try also Olympia, a couple of tram stops away on Vitezna (tram stop Ujezd).

Andel is really not the best for restaurants. There is a rather smart looking café in Andel called PK Café. Avoid the place like the plague. The Portafena Husa, as has been stated, is good for lunch and the prices are reasonable, but dinner there is nothing special. Hombre%26#39;s is just barely acceptable. There is an Italian place called Corleon%26#39;s (sp?) in Andel and it%26#39;s not so great, either. The main restaurant at the Moevenpick Hotel offers a great view of the city, especially at night, and the food is pretty good for Prague.
Andel does not offer good restaurants. The Metro is there and so is the tram. In my opinion, this is one of the most gastronomically challenged cities on earth, but there are some good Czech restaurants. You have to search them out, so try reading this blog for recommendations for dining elsewhere in the city. http://czechoutchannel.blogspot.com/ Try to stay away from the tourist trap restaurants. Usually you can buy a 500 ml beer for about CZK 30. In the tourist traps, the price can triple and the food prices follow.
One of my favorites is La Bodeguita Del Medio. It%26#39;s great fun and the food is very good.

To Vaxaholic %26amp; GCEK...or anyone else who knows:
Does Potrefena Husa actually means Crazy Goose or just a Goose that was shot? Linguists - tell us...

%26#39;Potrefená husa nejvíc kejhla%26#39; is a czech proverb i.e. viník se sám ozve. (I won%26#39;t translate as you speak Czech) as to why the restaurants are called like that I%26#39;ve no idea.

Plzensky Restaurant Andel is one of by favourites in Prague.

My office is less than a minute%26#39;s walk from Anděl metro so I know the area pretty well. It%26#39;s true that there is no gourmet dining in Anděl but there is plenty of good food particularly at lunch time when most restaurants have lunchtime specials for around 100Kč.
Contrary to an earlier poster, PK Café has excellent food and the best cappacino in the area. In fact there are quite a few %26quot;best of%26#39;s%26quot; locally. If you want the best goulash - not just in Anděl but in the Czech Republic - then visit U bílého lva on Na Bělídle. The same kitchen serves %26quot;Back Doors%26quot; in the basement, which in the evening is a night club.
The best spicey pizza - pizza Diabolo - in Prague, is served in %26quot;Al Padrino%26quot; on Jindřicha Plachty. The best chicken wings in Prague can be found in the Staropramen brewery restaurant (way better than Potrefena Husa%26#39;s). However, I haven%26#39;t been there for a while and I think it may be closed for reconstruction.
If you want the best spaghetti aglio olio go to Coloseum above Anděl metro station.
Even TGI Fridays Japanese restaurant isn%26#39;t bad.
I expect some retaliation from BREWSTA if he is lurking at the moment........

Who me? I%26#39;m not the biggest Andel expert. I always like El Barrio de Angel for a steak, but I heard a rumor they were closed. Anyone know?
For a Czech steak experience nearby, you could try U Mikulas Dacickeho\

Zlaty klas was OK, but haven%26#39;t been in a couple of years.

Everyone says to avoid that Mexican joint.
