I just got back from Praha two days ago, and miss the hot wine and grog I%26#39;ve drank in such cold and drzzling weather that made me feel warm. The hot wine tasted a bit of plum flavor and I%26#39;m wondering what brand of wine that made of it? Can I easily get it or Tumzensky in US? It tastes dilute with a bit of water (not that straight)? and what else got mixed in it? Does anybody knows? Thanks!

Czech mulled wine is called Svarak, nicer with a drop of rum or amaretto Grog, a hot toddy made of czech rum which if I remember Heebicka says it is not the rum as we know it because it is made with potatoes!.
Here is a post about Grog!

and maybe a teabag, and some cloves stuck in an orange as well ... You can experiment with any combination of the above ingredients until you get it right. Don%26#39;t be shy with the sugar as otherwise it can taste pretty bitter.
BTW %26#39;tuzemsky%26#39; means %26#39;domestically produced%26#39;. Did you mean %26#39;rum%26#39;? As mentioned above it is not actually allowed to be officially called %26#39;rum%26#39; as it is an abomination made from various ingredients, and the best thing to do with it is to make it into grog.

oh - and certainly don%26#39;t boil it! Just gently simmer until the flavours are infused.
